The hardest part of the decking was the Wickes delivery! Once it was through the house laying and packing the decking bearer timbers and then cutting and laying the deck went nice and easily on a sunny day. I even made a customised gully out of some gutter at the house end of the deck so that rain drains off and away from the house down to the outside drain at the side of the house :) Proud!

It’s a lovely feeling underfoot and makes the outdoor space very much an extension of the inside. Lots of space for Lola to sit out and play with her toys on her rug, and marbel run fun for Archie.

Here’s a good shot from the garden wall. the timbers will obviously weather nicely with age but I don’t mind the way they look now at all.

The back of the house needs painting next, and here I have started with an undercoat of the new exterior masonry around the back doors we recently had put in.

This was the fiddly bit, but again with som packing and additional joist extensions I am very happy with the finished product.
